"Eddie the Newfie" 8x10 oil on panel

"Eddie the Newfie"

This was a fun painting to do. First of all, who doesn't love a big fluffy puppy?
Secondly, I painted it at a surprise for an old friend.
I hadn't seen this friend of a friend for about 10 yrs. My good
friend Dodie, shared Eddies picture with me. When I saw This
darling Newfoundland puppy, I had to paint him.
When he was done, I mailed him to the owner, with a
note saying "Surprise!"
I told her Dodie had shared his picture and I wanted to do this
as a little gift. It wasn't a difficult picture to do, and I think she
got a big surprise out of it.
Feel free to let me know what you think of Eddie, or any of
my paintings. I would really appreciate feedback!

I have more art available at my other daily painter blog...
I have paintings there along with Debra Sisson, check it out!!

"Late Summer" 9x12 oil on canvas

Late Summer

I haven't posted in about a month, time to get with the program!
This painting I titled, Late Summer, however I painted it plein air in
early October. It was a very hot day, like summer, and it just
didn't feel like fall to me, so thus the title!
It was very bright out and the sun danced off the top of the trees and bushes.
I took some artistic liberty and added a beautiful deep coral in place of some of the reds
that were evident that day. I love the play of reflections in the water.
There was a very dark area of trees and bushes to the left of where I was
painting that day. I hope you enjoy this painting!

Feel free to check out some of my work at another blog with a fellow Arkansas
artist, Debra Sisson

"Sisters" 12"x12" watercolor by Leslie Newman

"Sisters"

12x12 watercolor

This was a quick study from a picture from an old neighbor.
This painting is of her two daughters, walking hand hand together.
As you can tell from this newest blog, I am a oil painter.
Here, I tried my hand at watercolors and had a lot of fun with it!
This painting is not technically correct, but I think it is sweet.
It definitely has some meaning for me. I remember when my neighbor
girls were this size themselves. Time moves on.
I hope you enjoy this and my other paintings in my blog.

"Born to Paint"oil 5"x5"

Born to paint....

I think that is what I was born for.  Not at a early age
In my life, but it is where I have been for the past 13-14 yrs.

This fun little 5x5, with those words embroidered, says exactly what I feel.
I found this iron on 3 PC. Set, and decided to have some fun with it.
This, and my recent 5x5 of the pear, have both been donated to
The Art Center of the Ozarks. Their annual 5x5 fundraiser is
Coming up.
I hope you enjoyed this colorful little artwork!

"Cindy's Yard" watercolor 4x6

"Cindy's Yard"

This  painting is very different for me.
First of all I did it in watercolor, also it is painted tighter than I
Normally like to paint.
This is my friend Cindy's back yard.
She has created a paradise like no other. This is just
A tiny portion of it. I gave this to her as a graduation
Gift from The Univ. of Arkansas.

"Buffalo Pasture" oil 5x7

"Buffalo Pasture"

This was a fun day! Our PleinAir Painting group
Went to a buffalo ranch in Southern Missouri.

We were able to go in the pen, take a ride on a 4 wheeler and get
within inches of all sort of buffalos. The bull, the new mommas with their
Calfs. They were so docile and calm,  They keep two different herds. One herd lives close to their home and has several pastures and ponds. This group all has names etc.
They have had some of them for 30 + yrs. they are not slaughtered.
There is a huge herd across the road that is a commercial herd.
They sell all the cuts of meat and terrific buffalo jerky.
It was a great day! I can't wait to paint
A close up of a momma with her three
Day old calf.

"Summer fruits with Gardenia" 4x6 oil by Leslie Newman

Summer Fruits with Gardenia
4x6 oil

I love this small painting. I have a gorgeous blooming
Gardenia tree and bring blooms inside and
Put at my kitchen sink. The fragrance is
Just heavenly. At the same time my neighbor gave me fresh blackberries.
I paired those items with a juicy fresh peach and put together
This small still life
I hope you enjoy this "taste of summer!"

"Vlad" 11x14 oil by Leslie Newman

Meet Vlad!

Vlad is a Rhodesian Ridgeback dog. He is a very handsome and friendly boy. Vlad is
owned by Jim Purdy of Dig My Dog, grooming and boarding in Springdale, Arkansas.
Our two cairn terriers go to Jim for grooming. Vlad comes to work with Jim each day. I thought
he could use a portrait of himself on the wall hanging over his bed in the front of the shop!
I hope you enjoy this expressive painting of Vlad!
